Labeled parts are: Lens Rotating shutter disc; α refers to the shutter angle, which measures how long the shutter stays open for an exposure during one rotation. In this example, the front surface of the shutter is mirrored to relay the image through the lens to the operator's reflex viewfinder. Focusing screen and condenser lens; the image projected from the lens is focused on a ground-glass focusing screen and an integrated condenser lens (generally Fresnel-type) is present to more evenly illuminate the entire frame. Reflex mirror; serves to relay the image and make it upright for the reflex viewfinder. Viewfinder; incorporates optics as needed to adjust for the user. Supply reel; unexposed film Supply sprocket Supply capstan Film gate; also known as camera aperture, provides a mechanical mask which forms the image frame for each exposure. Pressure plate; holds film flat against the film gate to enhance sharpness. Claw / intermittent film advance; an intermittent rotary mechanism that engages the film perforation and advances it by pulling it down towards the take-up system.
